IL-10 aircraft were produced in the USSR starting in 1943 as a developmental version of the famous IL-2M3. It brought into mass production in August, 1944 and was first used in battle in the spring of 1945. The IL-10 was produced in the USSR until the early 1950s and a total of 4.966 units were built.

This attack aircraft was brought into service in the Polish Air Force in 1949. The Polish Air Force was equipped not only with aircraft produced in the USSR but also with the B-33 which was produced under a licensing agreement in Czechoslovakia.

During the years 1957-60 the IL-10 and the B-33 were withdrawn from service as attack aircraft and they were replaced with Lim-2 jets.

The aircraft on exhibit was used in the Polish Force through 1957.
